This bulletin comes to you after a long hiatus. We would like to apologise for the delay caused by staffing changes.

We have started two new sections from this issue. One is on Regional Management where we will document the progress taking place in the five Sub Regional Offices of PDDP. The other column is dedicated to Local Development Fund (LDF), which started its activities from late 2000. LDF is active in four PDDP supported ditricts. We will keep you up to date on development activities taking place in these districts through LDF from this issue onwards. Both of these sections can be found under our Headway and LDF’s Page Columns. The rest of the sections are the same and as usual keeps you in touch with Programme activities and significant developments.

This issue of the Bulletin focuses on progress made by the Programme upto June 2001, unless otherwise stated.

The ApproTech section in this issue features a hydraulic press, widely used by the Chepang communities of Nepal to extract chiuri seed oil in a stress-free manner.

We have two viewpoints in this issue. One is a poem by the Deputy Team Leader in Ghodasain VDC, Achham district. He writes about the highs and lows of being a social mobiliser. The other one is by Mr. Bhairab Sundar Shrestha, Chairman of the DDC in Jajarkot. He writes about the development activities taking place in the district.
